More Than Just Home Security

According to news source, different kinds of burglaries happen every day. Everyone worries about home security and the safety of their own family. When I was still young, my mom always checked that our doors were always locked and we’re all safe before we hit the sack. Having the maternal instinct, it was her who convinced my dad to secure adt alarm system. My dad who used to go home late because of work overtime but he was never worried knowing that his family were also safe and sound. It was my mom who taught me everything, from dressing properly, home organizing, cooking and most importantly, how to raise a family.

I always remember her compassion whenever someone in the family gets ill. Until now she never forgets to care for us; from the right food to proper medicine, warm and comfortable clothes to a cozy home. In this way, I learned that being a woman is not just the physical thing like jewelry and new clothes, shoes or shopping. It has to do more with being responsible, keeping your stuff and home organized and safe. To her adt home systems is a necessity. It’s more than just home security; it also made us worry free.

Fashion in Football

Fashion within football has of course, always been underestimated due to the notion that football is a man’s sport and every single person involved, whether it’s the players, coaches, audience, and even the betting people in NFL lines, would always show their machismo. One person in particular though, Washington Redskin’s running back Clinton Portis, has done something about NFL fashion. It is a bit of surprise but the respect and enthusiasm that this player has is just remarkable. Clinton Portis on fashion news was reported to have just recently had a fashion show to raise awareness and have a movement against domestic violence. The event was held at the Liaisons Hotel rooftop pool, and it was reported that tons of people have gathered to witness this fashion event. He was also joined by fellow NFL players and teammates Jason Campbell and Stephen Hayer, where they made sure that they would be able to lead the fight against domestic violence by strutting their stuff up all across the runway. They were also joined by D.C. United players Bryan Namoff, Devon McTavish and Santino Quaranta. Indeed, these players have not only the heart for fashion, but also have the right motivation to fight against social problems.

Wild Animals in Fashion

I was really fascinated with the fashion news that I read about a certain Russian fashion designer named Vladislav Aksyonov who basically captured the whole of fashion industry’s attention by using live animals while having a fashion show of his latest collection of highly stylish clothes. I remember before when there were some other designers that use animals as well, but they were all non living, unlike what Vlasizlav Aksyonov did in his fashion show of using live animals as props for the event. It was said that the fashion show was held at the St. Petersburg Zoo, where animals like owl, hawks, porcupine and dogs were featured, along with the clothes that the models were wearing. I think this is the very first time that it happened where a fashion designer used live animals. In a couple of weeks, we are going to Russia to visit Moscow Metro for the maks-2009 air show as part of our incredible trip to the country. It would surely be a great privilege if I would be able to see some of Vlasizlav Aksyonov’s work with my very own eyes and not just in pictures. If I get lucky, maybe I could afford to buy some of this great designer’s works.

80s fancy dress

Fancy dress - worth the effort? Absolutely! What can be more fun than a house party? A party with a theme! This is why Halloween is the second most popular holiday after Christmas. People love dressing up! People love pretending to be someone else just for one day - to improvise and play act in cat woman costumes or super hero outfits. Fancy dress truly exposes the extravert at any party! Those who make the effort are always up for a good time!

From James Bond themes to Alice (or Malice depending on your taste) in Wonderland mad hatter tea parties, fancy dress is a wonderful way to meet new people and get caked in make up without feeling an idiot. From 60’s rock n roll to 70’s free love and even the afro clichés of 80’s fancy dress, people can re-live, or experience (for the new generation) fashions, trends and attitudes from that particular era. Born in the 80’s my music taste has suffered in the eyes of today. Bring on the 80s fancy dress, the skimpy leotards – padded shoulders, illuminous socks, retro funky – punk - doc martins & skinny jeans. How can the 80s era have ever left fashion?

Costume wearing, fancy dress and masquerade parties prevent people from feeling inhibited, allowing them to freely flow in their newly fashioned alter-ego.

The preparation of fancy dress making can be very creative too; there are plenty of fancy dress shops out there for a quick fix and quality look, but with an imaginative mind and help from the local charity shop there are endless possibilities crafted for the most individual of dress sense and taste.

One of my personal favourites was a Halloween outfit. An acquaintance dressed up as a road kill cat!!!! This involved the use of prosthetics - for wonky ear syndrome. Also tyre marks were glazed across a furry handmade garment which was pinned and squeezed in by a corset! Just for the authentic squished kitty uniform!

This fancy dress outfit got a barrel of laughs. Suffice to say the cat never made it back at the end of that night!

Hiking Tips

I’ve never really hit the trails. This summer I want to give it a try, the idea of mountain outdoors really caught my fancy. I first heard it from a friend who just completed her hiking experience along with his office mates. She’s the one who gave me some hiking tips. First, she said my outfit has to be perfect for the outdoor activity. She said sandals are good for hiking but then shoes with spikes would be better. I was hesitant at first, told her about the danger that I might face or it sounds too masculine. I don’t think the idea gives out the figure in me and just to find out I was definitely wrong. When she explained the importance of a tour guide I guess that’s just it. My mind was set; I’m going to go for it. I was also thankful for Goretex. They’ products are known waterproof, windproof and breathable. I think they just answered all my mountain hiking gears. I love their insulated jackets, shoes, socks, bibs, pullovers and pants. The first thing that I saw on their website is a yellow insulated jacket and I think it would not just fit me but definitely comfortable and sassy.

New York Fashion Week

Welcome New York! Wow, just the thought of it makes me over excited. I can’t wait for the much anticipated fashion week. I’m a diehard fashion enthusiast, I follow them everywhere. I go to a lot of celebrity websites, fashion columns and I make sure to answer the fashion hit or miss in every website if I have spare time. I even love Gossip Girl because I’m thrilled with the story of the Upper East Side and see what’s going on with the aspiring fashion designer, Jenny Humphrey. Going to New York for the fashion week is the biggest leap I have so far all in the name of fashion. I really worked hard to save up and I was a scrooge for a while because I want to enjoy shopping and dining in Manhattan’s elite. I have my reservation from New York Vacation Rentals because I have no idea about where to stay and I’m thankful enough that all my never ending queries were answered thoroughly. I’ve got to stay in a place where I can go to the site with just a ride from the subway. I’d rather take it because the cab is really so expensive. Besides, I need to familiarize myself before the time of the event.

From Politics to Fashion

My friends and I were having some sort of a reunion, and we were talking about a lot of stuff from politics, which we basically talked about the new president Barrack Obama if he would be able to save the economy of the United States, the George W. Bush incident in Iraq where he almost got hit with a shoe on his head, the Israel versus the Palestine situation and its recent attacks, and how the other countries, as well as United States, could possibly survive all the crisis. We were all about the news and current events when one of my friends, all of a sudden, gave me a question that really made me think… whose style is your favorite celebrity fashion?

I got stumped, not because I don’t know who to choose but because the question was way out of context. Anyway, I told her if there’s someone in the whole entertainment industry that I really like the style of… that would have to be George Clooney and his “always black” style. I don’t think I have ever seen him wearing any other color right after his Batman movie. He made the color his own fashion statement and made everyone think that the style is his style, and no one else can pull it off but him.

Worst Dresser…

I was asked yesterday by one of my friends who do I think was Hollywood’s worst dresser of 2008. It made me thinking for a while, paused for a few second, and then I replied that it’s got to be Britney Spears. If you look at the things that she has done last year, at least before getting back in shape and getting all of those awards from the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards. Whenever I watch TMZ or check their website, she was always there looking like crazy and way out there in the galaxy. There was even an incident where she decided to shave her head and lost all of those hair beautiful blonde hair. Then right after that she was seen weird wigs and there was even a point where she was seen not wearing any underpants and that was when she got associated with Paris Hilton. The list will just go on and on about her adventures and misadventures and she was at that point where she looked like she won’t be able to bounce back anymore. Then my friend went to spoil my momentum and told me that Britney is not a Hollywood personality but a pop artist… darn it!

Trends and Styles for this Year

I was checking out over the internet some fashion trends for 2009 because quite honestly, I have no idea what and how it would be on this particular year. I was browsing through a lot of websites, finding out the latest trends and the hot fashion statements, and I found out some very interesting stuff.

Men’s suits, for example, it was predicted that men’s suits, even though it is basically the slowest in fashion changes, will take a little overdrive and men would start something different with them from the typical monochromatic skinny-boy suit to something more masculine. The deep V Neck would also take its toll somewhere within 2009. Men would start using a style that was popularized by the opposite sex and make it as their own. Of course, the women also has some say in it and with them, it all depends on the weather. Winter, spring, summer and fall, you name it, they have it. For autumn and winter season, it will be from feathers to foho, and boho to square-toe, while in spring and summer, single-shouldered and sheers should definitely take their effects. The only thing that I think would keep everything from happening for this year is the global economy. Of course, if people don’t have money, they can’t evolve fashion.

Weddings and Gowns

Wedding Gowns are always the main attraction when it comes to wedding ceremonies because let’s face it, a wedding is not just a day for a couple getting tied up, but a day for the bride as well. People would always look at the gowns of the bride first when the ceremony start to roll before listening on how the wedding vows were delivered. And since the grooms are not allowed to see their brides wearing their gowns until the wedding day, expect the groom to really put their attention on how their soon to be wives would look within those big dresses. That is why the wedding gown fashion industry earns a lot of big bucks each year because women want to look really great in their wedding day since they know that once the wedding march have started, people will be anticipating their arrival and the way they look in the dress. For some, it is really nerve racking because some brides don’t want to be given any negative comments on their big day. This is why women would spend a lot of money to hire famous designers to create a dress that would really shine in any room…
